Diagnostic Assessment
Upon admission each student receives a physical and psychological evaluation. The physical exam includes a review of the student's medical history and medication status, a physical examination, urine drug screen and lab work. The physical exam determines if the student has any medically based problems that must be treated prior to entering the program. It also assesses a student's physical ability to handle the demands of the field.
The psychological assessment includes a review of the student's current and past history of behaviors, psychological and educational testing, when indicated, interview with the student, and consultations with parents and professionals. If a student has recently completed a psychological evaluation, staff will make every effort to obtain copies of those records to prevent duplication. The treatment team reviews the results of all diagnostic assessments and uses them to formulate the student's individualized treatment plan.
